Complete Open Water Training Dives in Grand Cayman
Complete Open Water Training Dives in Grand Cayman

Our Grand Cayman Island resort is more than just a popular and peaceful beachfront destination, and there's a reason divers turn to us again and again to explore the birthplace of recreational diving in the Caribbean. We've partnered with Red Sail Sports, one of Grand Cayman's best dive shops, and whether you want to learn how to dive, get your open water certification, or just simply dive, dive, dive your vacation away, we can make that happen!

Please see below for information on some of the Grand Cayman diving courses we offer at the resort.

Resort Course

Learn to dive in Grand Cayman! Red Sail Sports’ resort course will have you diving in just one day. Experience Grand Cayman’s most natural beauty – under the sea! The resort course includes a 2 hour pool and theory session, an afternoon 1-tank boat dive, and all scuba equipment and instruction.

The theory session teaches students the basic rules for scuba diving such as dealing with pressure, breathing on scuba and how to use the equipment.

The dive boat goes to a shallow reef and an instructor will accompany the student at all times underwater. The dive is approximately 30 minutes long and goes to a maximum depth of 40 feet.

PADI Open Water Course

The Open Water Diver Course is a three and a half day course designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to become an Open Water Diver.

The course is divided into three segments: classroom work, pool training and open water dives. The student will spend eight hours in the classroom learning scuba theory, eight hours in the pool learning to operate scuba equipment and practising skills before completing four open water dives.

Certification courses are scheduled upon demand wherever possible. The course includes books, equipment and boat dives.

In order to take the PADI Open Water Course you need to have a good general level of fitness. You are required to swim 200 yards (or 300 yards with mask/fins/snorkel) using any stroke without stopping (no time limit) and spend 10 minutes floating on your back or treading water – both exercises are completed in water too deep to stand in.

PADI eLearning Open Water Course

You now have the option of completing the knowledge development of the PADI Open Water Diver Course online. Once you have completed all the segments online, just bring a copy of your eLearning record and you can begin your underwater adventure!

You’ll learn and master dive skills from one of our highly-trained PADI instructors during restricted pool dives and open water dives. Once you become a certified open water diver you can be on your way to exploring new underwater world.

Please note that the minimum age for eLearning is 13. This is a PADI policy due to internet privacy regulations and requirements. Keep in mind that eLearning registration is a credit card process, so those underage will require parental permission and guidance to get started. Students (15 years of age and over) who complete the course will become PADI Open Water Divers and will receive a certification card.

PADI Open Water Referral Course

A Referral Course is perfect for people who begin their scuba certification with their favorite dive shop back home and want to complete their four open water-training dives in Grand Cayman with Red Sail Sports.

After a brief pool session to test underwater skills, students complete the four 'check-out' dives over a two- day period, and a Red Sail Sports instructor will sign their referral forms to verify completion. The newly certified divers can then spend the rest of their vacation in Grand Cayman diving!

Red Sail Sports offer referral courses for all of the largest recognized diving agencies: PADI, NAUI, SSI, IDEA, PDIC, YMCA, and HSA (Handicapped Scuba Association). Students must present referral forms from their original instructor upon check-in. Course includes all equipment, boat dives and certification materials.
